Learn how to protect your account, understand our data practices, and manage your privacy settings.
Your account security is a top priority. Here are essential steps to keep your Competition Platform account secure:
Create a unique password with at least 12 characters, including uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Avoid using personal information or common words.
Add an extra layer of security by enabling 2FA in your account settings. This requires a verification code from your mobile device in addition to your password when logging in.
Regularly check your account's login history for any suspicious activity. You can view this in the "Security" section of your account settings.
Ensure the email associated with your account is secure, as it's used for password resets and important notifications. Consider using a dedicated email for your Competition Platform account.
Navigate to your account settings and select the "Security" tab.
Click the "Enable Two-Factor Authentication" button.
Select either "Authenticator App" (recommended) or "SMS Verification" as your preferred method.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. For authenticator apps, scan the QR code with apps like Google Authenticator or Authy.
Store the provided recovery codes in a secure location. These will help you regain access to your account if you lose your authentication device.
Pro Tip: Use a password manager to generate and store strong, unique passwords for all your accounts. This helps prevent password reuse across different platforms.
Competition Platform employs multiple layers of security to protect your personal and competition data:
All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL. Sensitive data is also encrypted at rest in our databases.
Our platform is hosted on secure cloud infrastructure with regular security audits, intrusion detection, and DDoS protection.
We perform regular backups of all data to prevent loss in case of system failures, with strict access controls for backup systems.
Our systems undergo regular penetration testing and vulnerability assessments by independent security experts.
For competition submissions and creative content:
Important: While we implement robust security measures, no system is 100% secure. Always maintain local copies of your important submissions and creative work.
Competition Platform gives you control over your privacy with customizable settings:
Control who can see your profile information and submission history.
Manage how and when we contact you.
Control how your data is used and tracked.
Click on your profile picture in the top right corner and select "Account Settings" from the dropdown menu.
Navigate to the "Privacy" tab in the left sidebar.
Review and adjust each privacy setting according to your preferences.
Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page to apply your new privacy settings.
Pro Tip: Review your privacy settings every few months, especially after platform updates, to ensure they still align with your preferences.
If you discover a security vulnerability or have concerns about your account security:
Email our dedicated security team at marvin.kiefer@swisswebdev.chwith details of the issue.
Include details such as the steps to reproduce the issue, affected URLs, and any relevant screenshots. Do not include your password or sensitive personal information.
Our security team will acknowledge your report within 24 hours and may contact you for additional information.
We will investigate the issue and keep you updated on our progress. Critical security issues are prioritized for immediate resolution.
We appreciate the work of security researchers and ethical hackers who help improve our platform's security. Our responsible disclosure policy:
Important: If you believe your account has been compromised, immediately change your password and enable two-factor authentication if not already active. Then contact our support team for additional assistance.
We recommend changing your password every 3-6 months. However, if you're using a strong, unique password and have two-factor authentication enabled, less frequent changes may be acceptable. Always change your password immediately if you suspect any security issue.
If you notice any suspicious activity, immediately change your password, review your account for any unauthorized changes, and contact our support team. We recommend enabling two-factor authentication if you haven't already done so.
Competition hosts can only see the information you've chosen to make visible in your public profile and the details you provide in your submission. They cannot access your payment information, email address (unless you've opted to share it), or other sensitive account details.
You can request account deletion in your account settings under the "Privacy" tab. This will initiate a process to delete your personal information. Note that some information may be retained for legal or administrative purposes, and content you've submitted to competitions may remain according to the competition terms you agreed to.
We only share your data with third parties as outlined in our Privacy Policy. This typically includes service providers necessary for platform operation (like payment processors), and in some cases, competition hosts (limited to submission-related information). You can adjust some data sharing preferences in your privacy settings.
If a competition is canceled, your submissions remain in your account and are not publicly visible unless you choose to share them. The competition host will no longer have access to your submission unless specified otherwise in the competition terms.
